ACTIVITIES

BINGO – Wednesday nights the doors open at 4:30pm and the first session starts at 6:00pm. Prizes range from $150 to $300 with a winner take all at the end of the second session. This is a non-smoking game with smoke breaks. All proceeds are used for the services and programs offered at the Senior Center.

 

Blood Pressure & Sugar – Testing is done the first Wednesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.  If you have sugar tested, please fast from the evening before for more accurate reading.  There is a suggested donation of $1.00 for the sugar test to help covers costs. Blood Pressure is checked every Wednesday thereafter from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

 

Cards – Bridge and Canasta are played Thursdays at 1:00pm.

 

Coloring book club – Group meets Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

 

Craft Group – Group meets Wednesday mornings at 10:00am in the activity room. Holiday gifts are made for Home Delivered Meal clients.

 

Homeless Mattress Pad Project – Group meets Monday and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.

 

Live music & Dancing – Every Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Osteoporosis Exercise Class – Participants meet every Tuesday & Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Participants meet in the Multipurpose Room. You can join in at any time and work out at your own pace.

 

Shopping Trips to Mesilla Valley Mall (Las Cruces)  – Every other month.  Please call for schedule or view Monthly Activity Schedule.

 

Tai Chi – This exercise is offered on Mondays and Fridays at 10:00am.

 

The center has two pool tables available for use during business hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm

COMMUNITY SERVICES

DEMING GARDEN CLUB – Club meets on a monthly basis at 1:30pm.

 

HEAR ON EARTH – Hearing tests on Tuesdays from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

 

ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT - Advocate available by appointment. Please call to schedule appointment at office or at home.

 

DEMING LUNA COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING BOARD MEETING – Last Thursday of each month at 8:30am. Meetings are open to the public.

 

AARP 55 ALIVE DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE – Classes are held on an as-needed basis. Please contact Jerry Abbey @ 546-8915/543-8916 for details or to enroll.

 

NM VETERANS – The NM Veterans Counselor meets on Tuesdays by appointment only.  NM Veterans Service Officer is also available the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m.

 

DEMING AMATEUR RADIO CLUB – Group meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00am. Anyone interested in learning more about or sharing knowledge of ham radios is encouraged to attend.

 

PC SUGAR COMPUTER CLUB – Group meets on the third Saturday of each month at 9:30am. The Club offers several computer classes and is not restricted to seniors.
